About Me

Bio
My name is Maisie Gest and I am a senior at Baylor University. I'm a Marketing major, English minor, and my goal is to be an event planner. Before coming to Baylor I lived my whole life in Austin, and I love the spirit and life in that city. I really hope to move back there after graduation. I'm a member of Antioch Community Church here in Waco and I've really enjoyed growing and walking with that community since freshman year. I'm also a member of Delta Sigma Pi, the business fraternity on campus, and I have absolutely loved and appreciated my time so far with such fun, wonderful and driven brothers.

Primary Values

The first thing that comes to mind is family. My family is very important to me and always has been. As I get older I only grow closer to my parents and siblings. My family is my rock, a steady yet loving and giving foundation for my life. One of my greatest dreams is to have a family of my own, and I hope for it to be as close and supportive as the one I grew up in.

I guess what really comes first is my faith. I've gone to church for most of my life, but I was in middle school when I finally realized what it really means to be a Christian. Since coming to college I've really began to grow in my faith and make it my own. The Lord is my supporter, my protector, and loves me unconditionally, and for that I follow Him the best I can.

Confidence is really big with me. I have been fortunate enough to develop confidence during high school when many girls instead develop insecurities. Sure, I have my moments of weakness and my share of self-doubt, but overall I like who I am, who I've been, and who I see myself becoming. Many of my friends throughout high school and college so far have dealt with nearly crippling  insecurities. I've seen what it does to them and what bad decisions they have made as a result. I wish every girl could see that she is beautiful, that she is loved, and that she is worthy of attention, affection and praise.

I really value friendship, and those who are good friends to others. I've been learning a lot this year about what a good friend looks like, and why I shouldn't waste my time with people who aren't willing to give as much as I am. To me, friendship is about loving someone simply for who they are, giving your time and effort to really invest in their life and show them you care.

I'm also a real big supporter of fun. Life should be fun. Sure, we all have responsibilities, but it's important to take time for yourself to relax and laugh and enjoy life.
